Business's Physical Location

The lease space for this commercial building is located on 2515 A Wilma Rudolph Boulevard which is excellent because it is right near one of exits to interstate and that side of town is very popular because it has a mall and movie theater near it. There are also two different schools located in opposite directions of my location. It has 2715 square feet of space that includes private offices, conference room, media room, and common bathrooms. This is a high demand location with great visibility, parking. The monthly lease rate is $1,200. The lease bill includes property taxes, insurance, utilities, and janitorial and maintenance services.

Advertising

The cost of advertising for 92.1 The Beat is $75.00 for the morning shows and $25.00 times the number of spots for the evening shows. Each spot you purchase is for thirty seconds. I would probably run the ad in the morning since this is when my clientale is going to school, and their parents are up getting ready for work.

Physical Format of Business

The physical format of my business would be retail and internet. With the retail side of my business I can attract all the local attention. All the children and their parents that live locally would be able to hear about my business on a local basis and would also be able to see the building whenever they drove by. As for the internet side of the business, this would be used for many different aspects. For people who may not live locally they would be able to hear about my business online, and purchase the merchandise as well. This is also helpful for those people locally because if they do not feel like coming in for the day, they can just go online and purchase items from their cozy homes. Besides my own business website I would also set up a facebook page so that the word would be able to circulate about my business since facebook is so popular nowadays.

Advertising

Another place to advertise my brand will be Clarksville's local Leaf Chronicle Newspaper. I could not find rates on advertising anywhere but I did find that when you purchase a different ad you can also buy a bundle. I would have picked the Southern Bundle. This means that my ad would be in The Tennessean, Clarksville Leaf Chronicle, Ft. Campbell Shopper, Montgomery Shopper, Ashland City Times, Cheatham County Money, Stewart Houston Times, Robertson County Times, and LeafChronicle.com. I would run one ad for about a week in the paper.

Advertising

Since my business is located in Clarksville I would first use WJZM AM 1400, which is the local Clarksville radio station. The radio station's ad rate is approximately $115.00 Advertising rates are for a thirty second spot. I will run one ad in the morning and and again in the afternoon.

To have general liablity fire and extended coverage insurance for my business will cost a minimum of $250.00. The premium depends on how many employees I have working for me.

  • Advantages- 1. I have complete control and decision-making power over the business, 2. No corporate taxes -YAY, 3. few formal business requirements, 4. Does not cost as much to form a sole proprietorship
  • One of the disadvantages to having a sole proprietorship investors may not want to invest because of the risk.

Another one of FOY Clothing social efforts that we enjoy doing is giving back to St. Jude Children Research Hospital every year. This hospital has research and patient care all under one roof, which helps their scientists to do science more quickly. St. Jude houses some of the most sickest patients and toughest cases of an illness. St. Jude is America's second- largest health care charity. My own MTSU has teamed up with St. Jude for the Jeans for Judes. With this effort Dr. Robinson's Intro for Fashion Students have repurposed denim jeans, skirts, or jackets so that they can be auctioned off at the local Stones River Mall to the highest bidder. The last day to bid will be May 2, 2010.

Another of our social efforts is working with Make A Wish Foundation. This foundation works with children from ages 2 1/2-17 who have life-threatening medical conditions. This foundation works to enrich, strengthen, and bring about the joy of young person's life. There are four types of wishes that a child can choose from: I wish to go, I wish to meet, I wish to have, and I wish to be. The Make A Wish Foundation of Middle Tennessee is able to grant 80 to 100 wishes a year.

HELPING OUR YOUTH

With working with children in this new brand we feel it is necessary to work with our community that we are apart of. One of our social responsibilities is working with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville. This organization is apart of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, which is the largest youth mentoring organization in America. Since 1904 adult volunteers have helped children to continue to success. This one was established in 1975 through a local interest group from Harriet Cohn Mental Health Center and Grace Lutheran Church. The latest event that just passed was Bowl for Kids Sake 2010. A team of four or five players bowled for one hour on March 6, 2010 in an effort to raise money.

Demographics

Since the location of my brand is Clarksville, Tennessee I looked up some demographics for the area of Montgomery Tennessee. The are of Clarksville, TN has 160-299.9 persons per squar mile by county. The population for Tennessee is 5,689,283. The average family income in this state is $43, 517 yearly. Persons that were under the age of five years old in Tennessee as of 2008 is 6.7%, and persons under the age of eighteen years old is 23.8%. FOY Clothing Clientale

Fountain of Youth Clothing clientale is within the age bracket of two to twelve. FOY clothing is geared towards young girls who love looking stylish and hip. FOY Clothing headquarters are based in Atlanta, Georgia. This is an up and coming child brand that looks to become the hottest specialty retailer in the south. This brand is known as the destination for fashion-aware children. This brand proudly features positive, outgoing associates who assist our beautiful customers in expressing their individuality. Our main store located in Clarksville, Tennessee on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Trademarks

I searched the U.S. Patents and Trademarks website and found that my proposed brand/company is available. There were many fountain of youth companies and trademarks but there were none for clothing. I found that there were many fees to purchase a trademark. The application alone cost $325.00. To file an amendment under the alleged use cost $100.00. Issuing a new certificate of registration cost $100.00.

Additional Costs

Once I continued researching about the domain name purchase on godaddy.com I found that there are a couple of more things you must purchase in order to fully purchase the domain name of your choice. The registration length I would have purchased my hypothetical brand was 2 years. To have a personalized e-mail account was $100.00 per year. Every year after my purchase was a $2.99 renewal fee. To make my e-mail address was $1.99. The web hosting economy package was $4.74 per month. To add features for my website was $8.99 per month, which was on sale.

DOMAIN NAME

I went to http://www.godaddy.com/ to see if my proposed domain name, which is foy-clothing.com was available and IT WAS! Although I did not purchase the domain name I could for the price of $10.69 per year. I found that the abbreviations foy for fountain of youth clothing is a popular domain name and many of some of my first options were taken. I also found that a lot of the other domain names were either on sale or were just a lot cheaper. One reason that my domain name was more expensive than others is become my address ended in .com and that is very popular among domain names.
